PRODUCT OF THE MONTH – CELOSIA + VIDEO @ FEIKO SONNEVELD

It’s already the end of July, doesn’t time fly? In honor of our Product of the Month, Celosia, we have visited the nursery of Feiko Sonneveld. Watch the video, and see how celosias are grown.
Next to that, here are some fun facts about this colorful bundle of joy:

-American president Thomas Jefferson was a fan of Celosia, and had the potted variety planted in his garden. Quite some years later, during the Victorian era in the UK, English landscapers got interested in Celosia, and features them in their famous garden designs.
-Celosia can be dried very easily. Simple bundle a few stems together and hang them upside down in a cool and dry room.
-The leaves of Celosia are eaten in various countries, mostly in Africa. It is also called Lagos spinach or soko yokoto. It has a slighty bitter taste, and the name local name soko yokoto means ‘make husbands fat‘
